Design inspiration

DS-600: a continuous seating rhythm

The original DS-600 uses a sequence of connected elements to create a continuous seating line. Its collaborative design concept allows the sofa to be read as an unfolding, potentially serpentine composition. This interpretation draws on that repeated rhythm and the sense of a sofa shaping the surrounding space.

About the designers

The DS-600 design team

The original DS-600 was a collaborative project by Ueli Berger, Eleonore Peduzzi-Riva, Heinz Ulrich and Klaus Vogt. Developed for de Sede in 1972, it treats a sofa as a sequence of repeatable elements. The shared design credit is essential to understanding this flexible seating concept.
